Winter Home

We rent a bungalow in a quiet community of about 22 houses.  Except for the two houses which are on the beach, the homes are across the road from the beach.  Our bungalow has 1 bedroom, full kitchen, living room and 2 verandas.

Many of the residents come for the winter as we do.  Most are European and some have been coming every winter for 10 or more years.  There are a few permanent residents.  The rest come for a week or two or maybe a month.

There is a lovely community pool and the property has beautiful, well-maintained gardens.

The temp is usually 30C/86F during the day.  It is humid but we do get sea breezes.  A benefit of the hot temp is that the pool and the sea (Gulf of Thailand) are very comfortable and warm.

Meals in Thai restaurants are cheap, healthy and usually delicious.  There are European/American/Australian restaurants and many have good food and all are more expensive.  We mainly stick with Thai food and have 5 favourite restaurants where we have lunches and dinners.  Our preference is Thai foods and we don't see the point of visiting a country and eating the same foods you can get at home. We don't cook while in Thailand, only have breakfast in our house.

We will quickly get into a routine when we arrive - pool, gym, coffee or cappuccino at the mall, shopping, bike rides, weekly massages, favourite pubs, wandering around temples, or sitting on the veranda, by the pool or on the beach reading.

Flight number 1 of 3 on Tuesday the 29th.
